ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP FORMULA WINDSURFING FIN
3ITALIAN CUP STAGE FORMULA WINDSURFING FIN & OPEN FOIL 2020
Italian title and Coppa Italia 2020 Formula Windsurfing up for grabs at Torre Annunziata
from 9 to 11 October, valves also as 5th Trophy Bay of Oplonti
The volcanic beach of the Rainbow Boat Circle of Torre Annunziata, overlooking the Gulf of Naples, he is still a star in the Formula, from 9 October 11 next year, three titles: Italiano, Coppa Italia division Pinna & Foil and 5th Oplonti Bay Trophy. The Italian Championship is the recovery of what was supposed to take place in Vindicio two weeks ago. For the Cup it is the third and final stage, decisive for the awarding of the trophy. The calendar, conditioned by covid, saw this year's edition develop into just two stages. The first stage took place in Porto Corsini in August, while the second, always that of Vindicio, was cancelled as for the Italian Championship due to Covid's problems in the Lazio resort.
The holder of the Italian title won in the 2019, is the Lombard athlete Christopher Frank ITA-211 of the Wake La Darsena Circle, Lake Maggiore. The absolute men's and women's titles will be awarded, and in the Master categories, Gran Master, Veteran.
The provisional Cup standings instead see them lead the Division Fin Francesco Leoni ITA-378 of the Adriatic Windsurfing Club, in front of Andrea Volpini ITA-251 of CN Vindicio and third Dario Mocchi ITA-8080 of the Varese Naval League. The Open Foil ranking sees Fabio Benericetti ITA-373 in first place, also of the Adriatic Windsurfing Club ahead of Massimo Masserini ITA-7 of the High Sebino Sailing Circle and Dario Ansaloni ITA-930 of the Catholic CN.
Remember that the new sailing board of the Olympic Windsurf men's and women's discipline selected by World Sailing for Paris is part of the size of Formula IqFoil 2024. A foil board already with 5 knots flies over the water, and with 10 nodes at the crossroads are easily reached 25 speed knots making the practice particularly attractive with numbers of practitioners growing exponentially as witnessed by the recent Italian Foil Championship a few weeks ago in Torbole, organized by AICW.
