Blu Steel Hans Kreisel, 52.26kts on 500mt: 3rd Fastest Ever!
Hans Kreisel, meglio conosciuto come Blu Steel …
Principe: La Prima che si siamo incontrati fu in Irlanda a Dicembre 2008, con la sua canotta nera … dopo 10 pinte di Guinness mi cercava di convincere ad andare a navigare a The Brace, quello spot super veloce (ancora sconosciuto) nel nord dell’Olanda … il primo impatto fu un po’ strano … forse per via della canotta nera e i cappelli biondi tutti ordinati 
… ma dopo 3 secondi ho realizzato che questo ragazzo aveva già gli occhi della tigre!!!
Un anno più tardi è esploso … al Campionato Mondiale di Karpathos 2009 arrivò 5° appena dietro agli irripetibili giganti di allora (Finian, Antoine, Anders, Bjorn) … e fu 5° all’Europeo di Dungarvan.
Ha già visto due volte i 54kts sul suo GPS … a the Brace e a Plage du Rouet nel Maggio 2015!
Finalmente al suo terzo tentativo a Luderitz ha avuto la possibilità di esprimere le sue grandi potenzialità … Il Più veloce del LSC 2018 è lui: Blu Steel con 52.26kts su 500mt!!! Terza prestazione di sempre!!! (tutti i records sono ancora in attesa di ratificazione ufficiale da parte del WSSRC).
Principe: Hey Hansi Boy!!! Sembra che dovrai offrire qualche birra è!!! Il più veloce speed sailor di Luderitz 2018!!! Benvenuto tra gli Speed Knight (I Cavalieri dello Speed!!!)
Hans: Avrai le tue birre non appena vengo alla Rouet per allenarmi!
P: Come ti sei sentito appena dopo il tuo Record Olandese al primo giorno di vento (precedentemente appartenuto a Jurjen Van Der Noord: 51,26kts – Luderitz 2012) il 2 Novembre 2018: 51.61kts … poi migliorato il 6-11 con 51.98 e infine 52.26 il 22 Novembre?
H: Entusiasta ma stranamente non mi sentivo pienamente soddisfatto … come mi sarei aspettato di sentirmi! Ma sono molto orgoglioso di averlo fatto!!!
P: Quale è stata la tua più grande emozione durante queste settimane in Namibia?
H: Quanto mi è mancata la mia piccola Puck di pochi mesi (Hans è padre da poco … )
P: Quale attrezzatura hai usato nel tuo run più veloce il 22 Novembre?
H: Neil Pryde EVO XI proto 5.4 / JP Werner Gnigler Speed Custom 40cm / Z-fins 19 Asy SB .
P: Come cambi attrezzatura e trim se navighi a Plage du Rouet o al Canale di Luderitz?
H: Haha questo è quello che tutti vogliono sapere … ma qualche segreto lo dovrò pure tenere per me … Al Canale hai bisogno di molto più caricabasso rispetto a quando navighi alla Rouet.
P: Mentre viaggiagi per Luderitz … quale velocità speravi di poter raggiungere? Quale era il tuo obiettivo?
H: Il mio primo goal erano i 50kts, il secondo il record Olandese, il terzo dominare completamente il mondo … ma questo non ha funzionato.
P: Quale è stata l’atmosfera con gli altri Cavalieri?
H: Una gran bella atmosfera … più che altro sembrava una fratellanza … ognuno si aiutava a vicenda … Anche sul trimming … ma fino a un certo punto … come ho imparato dalle esperienze passate.
P: Tu hai il tuo stile personale … grande … e sembra che funzioni 
Ci puoi dire qualcosa al riguardo?
H: Il mio stile è molto dritto, il corpo sta su e il boma molto in basso … molto diretto e aggressivo ma difficile da controllare. Qualch volta Jacques v/d Hout o Vincent Valkenaers hanno provato il mio setup ma non ci riuscivano a navigare. Forse perché è tagliato per la mia posizione, il mio stile e il punto di pressione.
P: Cosa stavi pensando appena prima dell’angolo (quando il canale curva bruscamente dal traverso al gran lasco) nel tuo run più veloce?
H: Di più di più di più, si finalmente un po’ di potenza!!!
P: Le pinne che hai usato a Luderitz hanno lo stesso rake di quelle che usi in Europa nelle tue uscite in gps?
H: Si sono le stese pinne di serie che vendo dal mio negozio on line windsurfcandy.com e sviluppate da Z-fins.
P: Quali sono i tuoi obiettivi per il futuro?
H: Stabilire nuovi limiti e fare attrezzature più veloci, obiettivo finale e grandissimo sogno è il record del mondo sui 500mt. Cosa che solamente 1 mese fa pensavo fosse impossibile ma che adesso mi rendo conto che in futuro potrebbe diventare realtà!
P: Forse nel 2019 potresti anche provare a conquistare il record del mondo su Miglio alla Prince of Speed Sperando che questa volta non avrai problemi di schiena!!!
H: Se avrò tempo verrò di certo.
P: Ti piace navigare in mare aperto? Qual è il brivido nel canale e in mare aperto?
H: Il mare aperto è la mia grande passione, le condizioni difficili combattere per risalire sopra vento tra le onde in una natura nella sua forma più dura, con tavole piccole e pinne asimmetriche, è bellissimo. Ti genera così tanta adrenalina e soddisfazione che poi ti restano nel cervello.
Il Canale è fatto per la perfezione … niente bolina e l’angolo è simile a quando partiamo in slingshot in mare aperto … ma per 500mt. Il mio più grande desiderio è di trovare al canale le condizione che ho avuto a the Brace il giorno del mio record Vmax in mare aperto di 54kts … Vento perfetto, acqua piatta e pieno controllo in mezzo agli elementi …
P: Hai paura qualche volta … in certe condizioni … certi giorni?
H: Nel 2015 quando ho fatto 54kts a Plage du Rouet mi sono fermato perché avevo troppa paura di non essere più in grado di controllare le condizioni dopo una caduta al mio sesto e più veloce run.
Ho provato un settimo run ma ero in balia degli elementi, il vento soffiava sopra ai 60kts, il piano d’acqua stava diventando difficile e dopo lo slingshot era impossibile il controllo specialmente se prendevi la raffica alla fine. Ma normalmente non ho paura con facilità.
P: Questo è il tuo anno Hans!!! Hai fatto un bel passo in avanti sul lavoro, sei diventato padre di una bellissima bambina … e alla fine l’exploit a Luderitz …
H: Sono davvero contento con tutte queste cose … hanno fatto brillare il mio futuro di una gran bella luce … specialmente mia figlia Puck. Quest’anno è stato ed è un po’ frenetico anche col mio nuovo lavoro … probabilmente il tempo arriverà. Sono uscito in acqua a fare speed solo 27 volte prima di Luderitz ed onestamente non sono abbastanza. Luderitz mi ha dato una bella spinta e ha mostrato che i mei skill e l’esperienza mi hanno ripagato. In combinazione con un vero allenamento il prossimo anno posso fare parecchio molto di più per il surf e portare lo Speed ad un altro livello.
P: Siamo tutti contenti per i tuoi risultati … e sappiamo che è solo un nuovo inizio … Congratulazioni da RIWmag …. e Forever Speed!!!

Hans Kreisel … better known as blue steel …
Principe: First time I met him in Ireland 2008 … with his black summer t shirt after 10 pints of Guinness …
Pushing me to go to try the Brace … the super fast Dutch spot … First look was a bit “too modern fashion” but after 3 second I realized that the young guy had already the eyes of the tiger …
1 year later he was exploding in world cup with some great performance like 5th at the World Championship 2009 at Karpathos and 5th at European Championship 2009 in Dungarvan!
Already 2 times over 54 kts top speed at Le Rouet and the Brace … Finally he got some good wind in Luderitz to show his Talent!!! Blu Steel is the 3rd Fastest Windsurfer ever on 500mt!!!

P: Hey Hansi Boy!!! Looks like you have to offer some beer mate!!! The fastest sailor of Luderitz 2018!!! Welcome to the Speed Knight!!!
H: You will when I get back at Le Rouet for some training!
P: How did you feel after your first Dutch record just the first day?
H: Stoked but strangely enough it didn’t satisfy me as I would have expected. But I am very proud to have it!
P: Which was the bigger emotion of all this Namibian time?
H: Missing my baby girl Puck.
P: Which equipment were you using in your fastest run?
H: Neilpryde Evo XI proto 5,4 / JP Werner Gnigler speed custom 40 / 19 Z-fins asy SB
P: In which way you change equipment and trim for Le Rouet and the Canal?
H: Haha that what they all want to know but need to keep some tricks up my sleeve. For the canal you need a lot more downhaul than Le Rouet.
P: How fast you were hoping to go during your way to Luderitz? Which was your goal?
H: My first Goal was 50kts, my second was Dutch Record and third was complete world domination but that didn’t work out.
P: What about the atmosphere with the other Knights?
H: The atmosphere was really nice and it does feel more like a brotherhood everyone helps each other if they can. No matter what sometimes even trimming but always to a certain point. As I have learned from the past.
P: You have your own style … your own stance … that’s great … and it looks like it works Can you say something about it?
H: My style is really straight up body and a very low boom very direct and aggressive but hard to control. Sometimes Jacques v/d Hout or Vincent Valkenaers try my setup and they can’t sail it all. Maybe also because it is so trimmed to my stance and pressure point.
P: What were you thinking just before the corner in your fastest run?
H: More more more, yes finally power!!!
P: The fins you were using for Luderitz have the same rake which you use in the European GPS sessions?
H: Yes they are the same production fins that I sell in my web-shop windsurfcandy.com and developed with Z-fins.
P: What’s your goal for the future?
H: Setting new limits and making faster equipment, ultimate goal is the world record on 500mt. and a big dream. What I thought was impossible a month ago looks like it could be reality in the future.
P: Maybe in the 2019 you can try to challenge the World Record on the Mile at the Prince of Speed … hoping your back this time will be ok!!!
H: If I have time to come I will try for sure.
P: Do you like to sail in Open Water? What’s the different thrill in the canal and in open sea?
H: Open water is my biggest passion, rough condition also fighting yourself upwind on small asymmetric gear in the waves is beautiful and nature in it’s rawest form. Brings so much adrenaline and gives a lot of satisfaction and rest to the brain after. Canal is all made to perfection, no upwind and the angle downwind is almost the same as when we slingshot only then for 500 meters. My biggest wish is to get the same conditions on the canal as when I did my open water record maxing over 54 knots on The Brace boiling water perfect wind and fully in control over the all the elements.
P: Are you afraid some time … in some conditions … in some days?
H: In 2015 when I did 54 knots at Le Rouet I stopped because I was too scared, knew I could not control the conditions anymore after I crashed big time in my 6th run. Tried to do a 7th run but bailed out as the wind was pushing over 60knots, the water was getting nasty and after the slingshot stopping was getting impossible especially when a gust hits you at the end. But normally I don’t get scared easy.
P: This is your year Hans!!! You got better job … You had a Fantastic super cute baby … And finally the exploit at Luderitz …
H: Really happy with all these things makes the future look a lot brighter especially my daughter Puck. This year was and is still a bit hectic also with my work switch and probably will be coming time. Only had 27 sessions before I got to Luderitz which is honestly not enough. Luderitz gave me a boost and shows that my skills and experience prove a advantage. Combined with more proper training next year can be a lot better for surfing and taking speed to the next level.
P: We all are happy for your achievement … and we know it’s just the beginning …
