The strong rider of Pesaro, Francesco Tedeschi (North/Fanatic/Ion), He was one of the first Italians to try the new North Sails Idol 2013 on the occasion of the meeting North/Fanatic/Ion organized last week on Lake Garda. To be clear, the glider used by Gollito Estredo in the occasion of the victory in the first stage Pwa 2012 Podersdorf.
Find out the secrets and the characteristics of the new jewel ...
Here are his feelings:
• Francis, the first impression upon entering in water?
F. T: "Hi guys, the measure was tested by me 4.7, the wing that usually use the most and that I longed to try! Just grip, are immediately entered into the water and the first feeling was: Wow super light! The time was light and most boards that roamed the water were Formula… well I IDOL 4.7 and Fanatic Skate 89lt! The result? Instant glide under the incredulous eyes of everyone here dressed with some spock and flaka. In the gusts more consistent I couldn't dare also a ponch! The immediate feeling is definitely from a ready glide, acceleration and, as mentioned above, from a light weight that allow you to make the 100% each gust!”.
• What are the characteristics of the sail and what makes it different from previous models North Sails?
F. T: "For the first year sailing the world's North Sails freestyle dedicates a specific, What we have been waiting all by time! The new Idol is characterized by a shift of “fat” in a more advanced than the Hero (wing that currently use) just not quite as advanced as the new Volt (the new wave sail), which allows not to suffer more than unpleasant shot on the back hand and have a soft and balanced sail. As regards the measures (always refers to the 4,7) are almost identical to the Hero: about 1 cm of boma in less but of course always equipped by VTS (Visual trim system) that allows you to have a perfect trim downhaul tension is almost in both delal Clew.
I trimmed the IDOL as normally do with Hero, IE not great downhaul tension (less than that recommended by VTS) and little tension of Clew to allow the sail to have a good shot and at the same time a good “ducking” in steps. Not having had enough time to test it I'm not sure that's the right setting, but it was enough to really fall! I let you discover your favorite way to arm this gem!”.
• A professional athlete or you seem suitable for everyone?
F. T: "The new IDOL reflects exactly the needs of modern freestyle, However I think it's usable and enjoyable by both those who want to approach the freestyle, and those who want a lightweight wing and maneuverable ".
• Minimum weight and endurance, two factors that are difficult to assemble. How did you think from that point of view?
F. T: "Super light construction directs sailing performance but use due to the high quality of materials is also solid, especially the monofilm panels. I was surprised at their “consistency”, unexpected considering the low weight ".
• When will be available on the Italian market?
F. T: "The sail will be available on the Italian market tentatively in August in base and as always in a model CODE super catchy!.
I hope I've forwarded the emotions to me felt during this short test!
I take this opportunity to thank all those who support me: North Sails/Fanatic/ION/Choco Fins and a hug to my great Luigi M recovering!
Keep rocking full power!!
