THE FOOD PYRAMID OF TABLE SPORTS

RIWmag tries to prepare some articles that give sports food indications applicable to the practice of windsurfing.
Giuseppe Scire' Scappuzzo ITA-50’ made available to us to share his experience gained in his years of windsurfing practice and Formula Windsurfing regattas.
This article addresses the second step: THE FOOD PYRAMID OF TABLE SPORTS.


Dr. Joseph Scappuzzo: “Dealing with nutrition today is very complicated for two reasons:
1) Information, counterinformation and misinformation on the subject for the massive economic interests at stake
2) Radicalisation of debate as a result of the self-referential bubble of social media and search engines: the "breaking" of everyone's belief system can be "traumatic", especially in delicious virtual laughs.

I would like to point out that in terms of nutrition we need to balance the information we take from books in a balanced and critical way., journals and scientific publications (to form our own, self-contained food education) and the advice of our trusted physician and experienced and qualified nutritionist (especially with a view to personalisation and the presence of specific medical issues).


Today, the relationship between nutrition and genetic and epigenetic factors is very important (Mtor, Ampk, SIRT1 etc.), bacterial flora and the intestinal immune system and the cyclicalization or periodisation of carbohydrate intake. A limitation or moderation should be placed for a complex set of reasons for cereal intake, dairy products and legumes. It should be increased (however against some dominant vulgates) egg consumption.
Take this that I write only as a cue for your deepening and I stop here. In general I recommend that you preferably reserve high index and glycemic load foods and faster-absorbing proteins post-workout or post-surf, meet digestion times and calibrate hydration before, during and after the activity, especially if prolonged. Finally there are no supplements "that hold" if the diet, sleep and recovery are not adequate or if you overdo it with alcohol.
