Maaike Huvermann (Severne Sails, Zeil & Surfcentrum Brouwersdam Beach, Prolimit, Maui Ultra-bright Fins) publishes his video summary of the 2020: “It's been a strange year for all of us and I think everyone's been affected differently. For me personally it created a lot of freedom. Normally I'm quite bound to my program at university, which often leads me to miss good days in the water. With the closure of the university, online teaching allowed me to work in my spare time at my own speed. Since there are no windy days so regularly, it's great to be able to adapt to the weather situation. accordingly, i'd say i spent more time in the water in holland than ever before! During the Dutch blockade we were always allowed to travel freely to the Netherlands, so this was also of great help.
During the summer, the restrictions have been a little’ loosened and i was able to train at naxos. Together with Oda, Lennart and Balz did a little team training together and it was the best. Being out with them is so much fun and also very motivating. I became much more consistent with my Kabi with Balz's help and started practicing double maneuvers like Double Ass, Spock Kono etc.
After Naxos, I visited Cornwall and had some really great days. It was my first time there, so I had to orient myself with the tides, the wave motion and an infinite amount of spots, but with the help of some locals we had some good times on the water.
All in all, a great year for windsurfing. Hoping that the tour will continue and that we can all have a good year of windsurfing!”
