F.a.a, the strong Italian freestyler engaged in international competitions, After trying on the sails of the “Grandpa” Fabio’ Tampieri has changed sponsors of sails and booms and joins the Severne Sails team.
RIW: Hi Shashi, you're going to announce your new sponsor, Severne Sails. How did you made this decision?
F.a.a: My last two seasons with Challenger have been fantastic especially on the 2018 where I reached the 9 place in the PWA for which I thank Palmino Saraceni and Claudio Badiali for the support, now evidently it was time to change and “Surf” towards new goals. I'm super happy to be part of another prestigious and industry-leading team so I can't wait to start using the new sails.
RIW: What will be your responsibilities for this brand? You have already had the opportunity to try out new material?
M.F.: For this brand I will have to promote on national and international soil by participating in the PWA and EFPT races. I got to try the 4.4 FREEK and the feeling with the sail was immediately very good.
RIW: How the racing season went 2019?
M.F.: It could have been much better but unfortunately I didn't get the results I was hoping for. And’ went a little better in the Tow-In where I had some good results during the season.
RIW: What is your preparation program for the new racing season? What are your goals?
M.F.: After the end of the season 2019 I stopped for a few months to try to fix the problems I had in my ankle. I'm finishing physiotherapy these days, after that I should go to Tarifa to resume training and see if all goes well. Goals definitely improve the results achieved in the last season.
RIW: PwA freestyle events have significantly decreased in recent years. EFPT ones have increased in compensation but many pro freestylers have also had to devote themselves to other disciplines, or wave or slalom. In Short, the life of those who compete in this discipline is by no means simple. What is your point of view on this situation?
M.F.: Unfortunately, the world of freestyle is small, and although it's probably the most spectacular, there are fewer and fewer people approaching this discipline. Races in recent years have certainly decreased due to the costs of organizing too high. Fortunately the EFPT is returning to having a circuit with a few more events and last year everything went very well. We hope that in the future freestyle can return to the protagonist and have more visibility.
RIW: Would you like to thank someone? Who and why'?
M.F.: First of all, I would like to thank the companies that have supported and helped me in recent years. I also have to thank Gianpiero Venè, Severne's Italian agent, Fanagus, Dieter Van Der Eyken and Fabio Tampieri without whom I would not have had the chance to start this new adventure.
