Wednesday, 22 June in Torbole will be awarded the World Titles Formula Foil class
On the waters of Garda Trentino three other tests, 18 throughout; also this afternoon the second session of races was not held due to a weather alert for a thunderstorm that seemed to arrive on the upper Garda
Nago-Torbole (TN) – The wind, on the penultimate day of racing of the Formula Foil World Championship taking place at the Circolo Surf Torbole, arrived lazily, almost to spite the FIV Race Committee that instead had anticipated the first possible departure at hours 11:30, considering that in recent days it is always blown in the early hours of the morning.
At approximately 14 the wind from the south began to stretch out on the regatta field discreetly, initially reaching the 8-10 nodes, and then give bursts, during the third test of the day, even by 20 nodes. A weather alert expected for mid-afternoon with a possible thunderstorm approaching the race area, advised caution to the Race Committee, that no longer let the fleets out into the water after the planned break, stopping the program of this fourth day of three races, leading to a provisional total of 18 evidence.
One day after the conclusion in the senior category the first two positions are always firmly occupied by the two French brothers Nicolas and Thomas Goyard (respectively European champion and Olympic silver medalist), a 5 points from each other. The other duel between the Swiss Elia Colombo continues (currently third) and the Dutch Luuc Van Opzeeland, just one point from the podium.
In the first test with light wind surprising second place overall of the Polish Romanowski, now seventh in the overall standings. Among the Youth the athlete of the Circolo Surf Torbole Manolo Modena maintains an advantage of 23 points on teammate Jacopo Gavioli. Among women always before Sofia Renna, who detached the other Italian Linda Oprandi (respectively 23rd and 31st overall). The Spaniard Del Cerro and the Polish Dittrich always leader of the master and grand master categories.
Among the youngest juniors too bad that the Swiss Zeley managed to get to Torbole only on the third day of competitions: considering his two seconds and four thirds, would have given more battle to the athletes who compete for the podium area, without considering the leader Leonardo Tomasini, that continues to do regatta to itself, creating behind its wake the void: now it is in command with 14 and 20 points ahead of club mates Mattia Saoncella and Valentino Blewett.
Last efforts at the Circolo Surf Torbole to conclude in the best way this world championship, who has always seen fabulous weather conditions. Meanwhile, the first champions are arriving at the headquarters of the club who from 24 to the 26 June will participate in the legendary RRD One Hour Classic, one-hour challenge between one side and the other of the Alto Garda: I'm almost 20 the athletes who usually race in the PWA Professional Circuit registered for the regatta, giving great prestige to the event and raising the challenge to the highest levels to break the record both with a board with a fin, that foil. A great satisfaction for a regatta that was born in the 1989 and which now also celebrates the memory of Alberto Menegatti, the athlete of the Circolo Surf Torbole, that many riders present in the next weekend have known, sharing workouts, regate, travel.
