THE WIND IS COMING FOR EASTER 2022
Dear friends of RIWMAG and METEOEVENTI here comes Easter 2022, three days of relaxation for many with many, so many expectations and hopes.
This year what the elements of nature have in store for us?
Saturday, the central Mediterranean and in particular our peninsula, will be divided by two meteorological structures: the high pressure in the west and a disturbance that from Russia will stretch towards the Algerian and Tunisian coasts.
Easter Sunday will be the Russian disturbance to prevail, recalling cold air on the Adriatic regions before and on those of central-southern Italy after.
Easter Monday will continue to flow cold impulses from Eastern Europe still linked to the disturbance present on the eastern regions of the continent.
This configuration will determine a good pressure gradient on the ground in particular from Easter Day, that will give, then, wind on many of our coasts.
Pressure (Geopotential Height Black isoline) temperature (in color) scheduled for the night between Saturday and Sunday. Present its meteorological structures on the Mediterranean, the high pressure confined to the west and the disturbance extended from Russia to the Algerian and Tunisian coasts (source ECMWF www.ecmwf.int and elaborated by METEOEVENTI).
We analyze, as usual, what will be the windiest coasts in the three days of Easter.
SATURDAY
north Tyrrhenian sector: a weak Tramontana on the 15 nodes will affect the coasts of Savona, making a rotation from the eastern quadrants and heading towards the gates of Imperia with reduced intensity. Ventilation will affect the morning hours and will see an attenuation already during the morning or early afternoon.
Adriatic sector: the Bora will begin to blow in the Trieste area on the 15/18 knots and will reach the Venetian and Romagna coasts in the morning, but with reduced intensity. From mid-afternoon, the wind from the Northeast will see an intensification up to intensity on the 22/25 knots in Trieste and 18/20 knots on the Venetian coasts of the Po delta and on those of Romagna.
About Great Lakes in northern Italy the good weather will favor the development of the typical thermals of each lake.
center Tyrrhenian side: little to report, if not a weak ventilation from the northern quadrants on the Tuscan coasts, more likely in Livorno;
Adriatic side: weak ventilation from the Northwest (12/15 nodes) it will flow along the Adriatic coasts from Ancona to Molise, intensifying during the afternoon/evening (15/18 nodes).
south Adriatic side: ventilated the coasts of the Gargano for winds from the quadrants of Ponente on the 15/18 nodes. This ventilation will pass off the coast of Bari in Puglia., arriving on the coasts of Brindisi and Lecce;
Ionic side: nice wind on the 20/22 knots from Crotonese, with prevailing direction from the North, up to the coasts of Reggio, here of origin East-Northeast;
Tyrrhenian side: nothing to report until the evening. Then winds of Grecale will begin to blow on the coasts of Campania on the 15 nodes.
islands Sardinia: poorly ventilated Sardinian coasts. Greater chances of wind we can find them in the southwest of the island for weak winds from the West-Northwest on the 12/15 nodes. The beautiful day can, Anyway, activate weak thermal;
Sicily: windy will be the coasts of Trapani for winds of Tramontana on the 20/22 nodes, as well as the spots from Catania to southern Agrigento for Grecale on 20 nodes, but with probability of some showers in the afternoon. In Syracuse the wind from the Northeast will be more intense and will reach intensity on the 25/28 nodes.
EASTER SUNDAY
north Tyrrhenian side: little to report. The sunny day will favor the genesis of thermal rooms;
Adriatic side: the morning will flow in the name of the Bora that will blow on average on the 18/20 nodes. The wind from the Northeast will retreat during the afternoon, still affecting the Ancona until the evening.
Even on the degree lakes the sunny day will favor the genesis of thermal. The Bora will favor more thermal ventilation on Lake Garda.
center Tyrrhenian side: winds from the North will affect the Tuscan and Lazio coasts up to the borders with the province of Latina. Averagely expected 18/20 nodes, with higher intensities and on 20/22 knots between Viterbo and the Roman coasts;
Adriatic side: well ventilated Adriatic coasts. Winds expected from the North quadrants on the 22/25 nodes.
south Adriatic side: waiting for the Tramontana on all the Adriatic coasts of Puglia with average intensity on 20/22 nodes;
Ionic side: also on the Ionian part the Tramontana will give a windy day with winds on the 25/28 knots up to the Crotonese where we will have intensity also on the 30 nodes.
Expected winds from the North typical of the spots overlooking the Strait of Messina on the 18/20 nodes. Will be, However, a day with moderate atmospheric instability in Calabria and, then, with possible showers and thunderstorms;
Tyrrhenian side: in the morning we will have wind from the North-Northeast on the 15/18 knots on the coasts of Campania. This ventilation will go up to the Calabrian coasts during the afternoon arriving there with intensity on the 12/15 nodes.
islands Sardinia: to dominate will be the winds of Tramontana that will flow along the coasts of the eastern Sardinian on average on the 25 nodes, on those of the west on average on the 15/18 knots and will rotate from the East quadrants to the north of the Island, where intensity is expected on 20 nodes, but stronger and up to 25 knots on the spots overlooking the Strait of Bonifacio, but here they will be in attenuation during the afternoon;
Sicily: the Tramontana will blow on the coasts of Trapani on average on the 20/22 nodes, rotating from the Northwest quadrants on the coasts south of the island. On the Tyrrhenian coasts to the north and Ionian coasts to the east, the day will be marked by bad weather.
TREND FOR EASTER MONDAY
In northern Italy there will be a general attenuation of ventilation, in particular on the Adriatic coast where the action of the Bora will yield.
Even in the center of our peninsula the action of the wind is destined to weaken, but the Bora will still be present in the early morning on the Adriatic, and Mistral wind on the southern Tuscan and Lazio coasts.
Southern Italy, Instead, will still see intense ventilation on all sectors, but in particular on Adriatic and Ionian.
