Third day in Torbole of the Formula Foil World Championship
In the afternoon the wind is too strong (up to 30 and beyond nodes) forces you to interrupt the day with 3 regattas on 6 expected
Leadership still unchanged in all categories
Nago-Torbole (TN) - The windy resources of Garda Trentino seem to be that in this week in which the Formula Foil World Championship is being held in Torbole they never run out, Indeed, increase day by day: after the first session of three races “back to back" match regularly at hours 13:00, after the usual break, the wind- already strong from the morning- increased along with the wave, short and high.
Within an hour, just before the start of the second round of scheduled tests, conditions have become difficult to ensure safe racing for all categories and the FIV Race Committee, first suspended the tests, and then stop them definitively considering the continuous increase in wind.
The Championship, after three days of competitions and 15 regate, seems outlined in the podium area in almost all categories: among the seniors decidedly good day for the Olympic silver Thomas Goyard, who placed three firsts ahead of his brother Nicolas, that after a seventh, he recovered promptly with two seconds leaving behind the fight for the third step of the podium between the Swiss Elia Colombo and the Dutch Luuc Van Opzeeland, that after the 15 tests played are in equal score.
Unchanged the performances and the ranking for the first two youth, represented by the bearers of the Circolo Surf Torbole Manolo Modena and Jacopo Gavioli: even today they have maintained excellent positions in the general classification, confirming as well as the leadership of the Youth category, sixth and seventh place overall.
Also third was the Slovak Robert Kubin. Day no leaving for Sofia Renna, who in the first two tests was disqualified, but – being able to discard them – keeps the head of the women's ranking ahead of the other Italian Linda Oprandi.
Very good juniors, that in the third and last test of the day they struggled to control the board with the wind that continued to increase.
Without history the regattas of the athlete of the Circolo Surf Torbole Leonardo Tomasini, more and more in the virtual top ten also in the senior category, that leaves a few minutes earlier: speed and perfect starts are launching him more and more towards the category title, whereas it has still accumulated advantage over opponents, which currently have respectively 12 and 24 delay points (in the order the good Mattia Saoncella and Valentino Blewett).
Six points between one and the other Anna Polettini (CS Torbole) and Medea Falcioni (SEF Stamura).
Tuesday,, penultimate day of competitions, departure is anticipated at 11:30 considering the fact that it has been four days that the wind from the south begins to blow very early: at the Circolo Surf Torbole, organizer in collaboration with Federazione Italiana Vela, IWA and Consorzio Garda Trentino Vela, we are preparing for another long day of racing in a World Championship that has so far had excellent wind conditions (also too) and sun.
