In all categories Italy enters the first 10 accessing the medal series
Fourth day of IQFoil Youth regattas & Junior International Games Very Challenging in Torbole, on Garda Trentino, before the final scheduled for Thursday with the top ten of each category admitted to the medal series. The manifestation, organized by Circolo Surf Torbole in collaboration with Federazione Italiana Vela e classe Internazionale, recorded a very high participation numerically, but also very solid from a technical point of view, whereas many athletes present, participated a couple of weeks ago in the World Youth Championship held in Holland.
Regatta therefore very reliable from a competitive point of view, in view of the iQFoil Youth and Junior World Championship in Silvaplana, scheduled for the end of August.
Today the regattas started early in the morning (first test towards the 8:00) with the fleet under 17 engaged in two course races, disputed with wind from the north.
Following the youth under 19, who managed to complete only one racing course with a stick course, chosen to be able to race regularly with the wind that after the 9 it blew especially in the central part of the lake. In the early afternoon, as scheduled, it was the turn of the marathon race for all categories, on a path of about 8 miles and a half, completed in addition 40 minutes of competition.
A test of resistance, who saw him win in the under 19 the two Italians and athletes of the Circolo Surf Torbole Manolo Modena and Sofia Renna, who have confirmed the leadership maintained from the beginning and above all demonstrated speed and regularity on the field, often with good recoveries. Among the youngest under 17 Croatia's Ian Anic won by surprise, but the French Tom Nicolle, with a second place he enters the medal series in first place and then directly in the final. Among the girls victory of the Spanish Caterina Tomas Cardell, who for a single point enters the final in first place in front of the Italian Francesca Maria Salerno (Lauria, Palermo).

The fleets present themselves at the medal series with Italy having a say in many categories: among the first 10 of the Youth under category 19, four are Italian with Manolo Modena in the final being first and Jacopo Gavioli (Circolo Surf Torbole), Federico Alan Pilloni (Windsurfing Club Cagliari) and Leonardo Tomasini (Circolo Surf Torbole) who will compete in the quarter-finals (from the fourth to the tenth of the general classification) to attempt the assault on the semi-final and final. In the semifinals the two Britons Dixon Charlie and Duncan Monaghan, second and third respectively after the 13 qualifying regattas, with the marathon that is worth double.
Even among girls youth under 19 Italy presents itself with two athletes in the final: Sofia Renna directly in the final being first and the Lazio Carola Colasanto in the quarterfinals (eighth in qualifying). It's the Czech Republic, who accesses the medal series with the largest number of athletes, three, with Pinosova, Altmannova and Sadílková. The fleet under 17 male is the most homogeneous with nine different nations in the top ten, with Spain doubling. Clearly first and in the final the French Tom Nicolle; access the medal series (7th) also the athlete of the Circolo Surf Torbole Mattia Saoncella, first under 15. Among girls under 17 the Spanish Caterina Tomas Cardell wins the qualifications, in front of a fierce Francesca Maria Salerno (Lauria Palermo); in medal also the other Italian Sara Mangione (Sailing Club Sferracavallo), Anne Parker (Circolo Surf Torbole) and Medea Falcioni (Sef Stamura Ancona).
The medal series are scheduled for Thursday 4 August for the under 17 from hours 8:00, while for the under 19 from hours 12:30.
