Here is the second episode dedicated to all the newbies and the girls of windsurfing: Greta explains how to transport the equipment on the beach!
Attention, the subject seems trivial and obvious a priori, but this article contains interesting and useful details for maximum simplicity’ with minimal effort.
Greta Welcome:
“there are 2 fundamental ways to carry the equipment on the beach:
- bring before the Board and then sailing
- bring table and sailing together
We start from the first case, What is taught already from the first lessons, the easiest to put into practice and for girls what implies a lower energy expenditure.
First, it carries the downwind with the poop it forward by holding it under the arm and hand gripping the front straps.
As we walk towards the beach la tavola is located downwind to us because if we're upwind wind pushes against your body and making it difficult to transport. Once at the beach leans against a table with the bow facing the wind and sails downwind.
So the table is safe and is not likely to fly with the first gust. Or if the sand is soft, fine, or you can put the table with the Leeward bow and slight pressure at the stern to fit the fin in the sand to anchor the table and prevent them from flying away.
Always pay attention to where you put the table, Sometimes there are rocks or stones or anything that can puncture so check well before you place it on the ground.
If you have a heavy and cumbersome table you can carry it on your head upside-down position with the stern to the wind and holding it with your hands from the front straps. If you have a very small wave Board you can take it just under the arm like a surf.
Once the Board take it back to the glider always rolling it with the tree in the wind and never with the Clew to the wind.
You can take the glider with two hands, a shaft and the other on the boom and let it fly as we walk towards the wind or you can put the head sail always with tree and downhaul in the wind, keeping with the Windward tree hand and with the other the boma, by placing the head on a stick to avoid breaking the canopy in case of too much pressure.
Here's the photo sequence and related captions, point by point:
Once at the beach leans the glider on the ground just downwind to the table. Be careful not to place the sail too far away from the table, do you think that you have to hook them together. Then you put the cutting table and engages itself to sailing.
Once engaged if you don't go immediately into the water it is best to turn the table over the wing so keep crushed the base of the wing to prevent take wind and flying away. Never leave an unattended sail on the beach without a weight based, Therefore it is always brought before the Board and then sailing, as well as when we got back from a ride off the table and is sail first door and then back to resume the table. Attention, This system can be used only in order to bring our equipment to water, but to get into the water to sail is necessary to know the second method of transportation — and set sail. This is the method used by most windsurfers.”
The second method in the next installment.
