S2Maui Sails, sails designed and created by Barry Spanier, Rick Whidden and Art Szpunar, “famous people of Hookipa”, former Maui-sails already known worldwide, Welcome in their team of athletes to Josh Angulo.
Josh Angulo: “Aloha, first of all I would like to send my thanks to Art and Barry to get me back with the team where I got my last great competitive success. Having worked with them in the past and thanks to the understanding of the philosophy of “performance first” where Art has now completely free rein was happy to jump on a plane to Maui and go to test sails. Despite being a very affable character, Art for me is a little’ a perfectionist and mentoring of Barry Spanier who has more experience of windsurf sails than anyone else! The kids also had the wisdom to engage officially Micah Buzianis, as their main tester / Developer, and for me this was the security of knowing with certainty that the management would have been intelligent and consistent for years to come. Besides being a friend of mine know that Micah and’ an efficient and concrete tester with much more knowledge and experience of many new “experts” out there.
The final and most important decision to join S2Maui are the sails themselves. The sails by race are a combination of listing forward and light pressure on the hand behind, total stability, easy to pump, easy to rotate and lighter sails on the market.
I personally enjoyed the wave when I tried them on Maui, but the difference I felt really in Cabo Verde in difficult conditions and gusty winds of Ponta Preta. My ability to catch the waves and’ increased 10 times with pumping super-efficient and every movement of the wing transferred directly to efficiency. Once on the wave the lightness and stability in sailing has brought my level when I was 30 years. I feel like if I hadn't lost the pass through these S2 and I definitely want to do windsurfing again!”
Artur Szpunar: “Working with Josh in the past and’ always been a pleasure that has also led to some great success in PWA with the title wave of 2009. I had hoped to work together again for sometime and thankfully everything’ materialized this season. Josh is certainly one of the greatest natural talents in windsurfing and also an Ambassador motivated and challenging in and out of the water. We're stoked!”
